I would like to say that this week was better than last weeks Creme Brulee disaster. I'd like to but I can't. In fact, I think this week was more of a disaster than last week. Don't believe me? Look at this.
I went from this...
to this...
and this...
See? Big uh oh. I checked the cake at 20 minutes and it was still really jiggly and sloshy. But it was starting to brown on top so I covered it with a piece of foil. I came back about 15 minutes later and had that (points up). It may look burned but it was just this side of not. After stamping my foot in frustration and sulking away, I came back and look at it. I knew there was no way I was going to save it but I could resist trying a piece of the chewy looking mess. Imagine my surprise when it was quite tasty. It was like caramel. The inside was a mushy mess but the outside was very tasty. I ate a few bites and then chunked the whole thing in the trash.
I was about to attempt it again but didn't want to waste more ingredients on it so I called it quits on this cake. If you want to see me get my baking mojo back, scroll down to the Giada post below. This was made later Sunday night (I had to bake something right!!!!) Oh yeah. Its not gone for good (just the Dorie mojo for now).
This weeks recipe was chosen by Tammy of Wee Treats by Tammy. Next weeks recipe is Lenox Almond Biscotti chosen by Gretchen of Canela & Comino. I've never made biscotti so I'm excited to try this one!

So sad! I hate when walking away does such terrible things, especially because white chocolate sounds like it would be so neat with the caramel and peanuts. Hopefully next week is more successful!
Oh man! Talk about a brownie-cake explosion. I wonder what happened? Is it bad that I giggled a little bit? I do it with love though...

lol ! lol ! éruption volcanique dans ta cuisine ?
OMG, what happened to your cake?? It looks horrible... Do you dare to give it another try?
I still have to make mine tonight
Yuck! Sorry it didn't work out for you...better luck next week!
OH NO! I'm so sorry you had a bad time with this. Mine wasn't great either. I wanted more of a brownie taste. Love the photos of the explosion though! :)
Whoa lady! That had to have been done by sinister oven elves or something. Bummer city. You'll have your mojo back soon, don't fret.
OMG poor you! What a disaster :(
OH no! At least it makes for fun pictures
When you go down, it is good to do it in a spectacular manner!
Ya know, I had to make this one twice due to my own screw up. Darn-it just feels like such a waste. Better luck next week. I loved reading your Giada post. What a stroke of good luck.
Ug. What a mess.
*sending baking mojo your way*
Oh no! I had to make the cake twice to get it right - you should try it again
ouch :( that is graphic!! well the white chocolate sounds great... i think i read somewhere that white chocolate bakes differently... i have no idea HOW it bakes differently, but maybe dorie says somewhere... i hope you will be able to figure it out, it sounds like a great combo!!
Wow! Exploding cake -- amazing! Now if you could only figure out a use for it...
Joking aside, I'm so sorry about your kitchen disaster. Better luck next time!
I will love you always for these pics I feel like we just bonded on a very deep kitchen disasters level.
Holy crap...exploding cake!!! :( I like your delicious inspiration to use white chocolate, and I hope you'll attempt to make it again soon.
Yikes! That's too bad.
Oh, my! Mine was a crater, yours was a volcano! I really hope the biscotti go easier on you. :)
sorry :( was it the white chocolate maybe???
